Website development & programming

Portfolio

I’ve been building websites since the web began, sometimes for money and sometimes just for fun. Here are a few recent projects I worked on.

3e Training

Course updates and registration

3e provide training to government agencies and private sector businesses. You can easily browse the available courses and dates, then register and pay online. 3e keep the course information current themselves, through a custom website update tool.

What I did: Planned and programmed the course update and registration system; developed the CSS/HTML templates; and adapted existing copy for the website.

Victoria International High School Programs

Informational site for an international audience

The Victoria International High School Programs recruit international students to study in Victoria. Their website provides information about the programs and life in Victoria in clear and basic English. They plan to add multilingual pages in the near future.

What I did: Designed the site, wrote the copy, developed the CSS/HTML templates, and managed the project. Basically, everything.

Main Street Gallery

Art and artists online

Main Street Gallery is an art gallery in Sidney BC. The website showcases the artists and their works, as well as upcoming exhibitions. Main Street manage the artist galleries and exhibits themselves, uploading photos of the works through a custom website update tool.

What I did: Planned and programmed the gallery update and display system, trained the client in their use, and developed the CSS/HTML templates.

Paton Place

Artist’s personal site

Kristine Paton shares the three facets of her art. The site is simple and clean and filled with images of her work (which is fabulous!).

What I did: Modified Kristine’s supplied design, planned and programmed the gallery display, and developed the CSS/HTML templates.

VIATeC Technology Awards

Nominations and sponsors

VIATeC holds an annual awards gala to showcase technological innovation on Vancouver Island. On the site, prior to the awards, you can nominate people and companies for the awards. Afterwards, you can see who won. And view all the sponsor logos, of course.

What I did: Developed the CSS/HTML templates, laid out and programmed forms, updated the site.

BC Transit

Finding schedules, fares, and maps for your community

BC Transit coordinates the delivery of public transportation throughout British Columbia. Their home page makes it easy for you to find your own community so you can figure out when your bus is coming and where it’s going to take you. This saves you time and cuts down on the number of calls they have to field.

I worked on the home page, not the full site, just to be clear. And I use this page myself all the time to check bus schedules.

What I did: Planned the page layout to make it easy to navigate, developed the CSS/HTML template to be compatible with Dreamweaver.
